Reeves, Upchurch, Mingo Inducted into the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame

DENVER, CO (September 22, 2014) – Denver Broncos greats Dan Reeves, Rich Upchurch, and Gene Mingo joined the other twenty-four members of the Ring of Fame on September 12th with the unveiling of their monuments outside Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Dan Reeves, who is the first coach inducted into the Ring of Fame, led the team from 1981-92 and compiled a 110-73-1 record, won five division titles and made three Super Bowl appearances.

“It’s an honor,” said Reeves. “Without question it’s the greatest honor I’ve had in Pro Football.”

Gene Mingo was the first African-American placekicker in the NFL and was a member of the original Denver Broncos team, playing from 1960-64.

Rich Upchurch made four Pro Bowls from 1974-83 and holds the franchise record for punt return touchdown’s with eight.

The Ring of Fame monuments were created by sculptor Brian P. Hanlon and Hanlon Sculpture Studio and feature bronze bas relief portraits and plaques mounted on corten steel pillars.

“I’m honored to add these pillars to the Ring of Fame plaza that provides a unique fan experience while celebrating the proud history of the Denver Broncos,” said Hanlon.  “The pillars carry on the mystique of the original Mile High Stadium because they are constructed in corten steel – the same material as the old stadium.”
